Below you will find links to helpful sites for travel as well
as some frequently asked questions.

Traveling with only 1 parent?
You will need a Notarized Letter of a Child Travel Consent Form – Click here for a great site for reference.
Please note: Some countries require not only a Notarized Letter, but also the child’s Birth Certificate & Passport (I.e. Belize).

• Do I need a Visa? How do I get a Visa?
to visit Sherpa. It’s a great site to input your travel information tosee if you need a visa & if needed apply for an E-Visa.

• Does my Passport need to be valid for 6 months after my travel date?
Short answer, YES to be safe. Most countries are moving in this direction and if it’s anywhere close to being expire at the 6 month mark post travel home to U.S., just renew your passport to be safe.

• If my passport has a watermark, is a little damaged or ripped, will I be able to use it?
NO. You will need to get a new passport. I have seen a passport denied with make-up on the pages.

• What do I need to fly in the U.S.?
Starting with flights on May 7, 2025 you will be required to have a REAL ID (Click here for NY State Acceptable ID’s) A PASSPORT Booklet is valid for Domestic Travel. So if you have a Passport Booklet you can use this and not have any issues.

• Can I travel on a Cruise without a Passport?
A Cruise Line will tell you yes on a Closed Loop (Meaning you depart and return to a U.S. Port). You have to visit the cruise lines website directly to see what they state for required documents.

I personally will NEVER advise to cruise without a passport. If you get injured or have an emergency back home and need to fly home from a port of call you can not fly without a passport.

I have known people to get denied boarding on a cruise ship because the birth certificate they were using didn’t have both parents names listed, they brought a copy without a raised seal, it was damaged. A Passport is a lot easier to get onto a ship with than other documents.

• Do I need travel insurance?
Technically you don’t need to purchase travel insurance. I do make my clients sign a travel insurance waiver stating they are declining insurance and understand they are responsible for any and all fees (including cancellation fees, non-refundable trip costs, and any and all medical expenses while outside the country).

Honestly 95%+ of my clients purchase it. It is something I hope you don’t need but it’s something that pays for itself ten times over if you do require it.

I don’t personally travel without it. I have needed it on more than oneoccasion and clients as well.
